Starbucks Caramel Macchiato
2 tablespoons vanilla syrup (From bottle or *homemade)
1/2 cup espresso or double strength dark full-bodied coffee
1 cup whole milk, steamed or frothed until foam
3 – 4 tablespoons caramel sauce like Hershey's
*For Homemade Vanilla syrup
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1-teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean
To make the vanilla syrup, combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to boil over high heat and boil for 5 minutes. Add a (split) vanilla bean or vanilla extract, stir well and keep in a sealed container, refrigerated.
Pour strong hot brewed coffee or espresso into a large mug. Blend until frothy. Add vanilla syrup and hot milk to mug. Froth.
Add whipped cream and top with caramel sauce. Serve.
