Adapted from The Cake Mix Doctor Returns by Anne Byrn
1 stick butter at room temperature
3 and 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
3 - 4 Tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Place butter in a medium bowl and blend with electric mixer until fluffy about 30 seconds. Stop the machine and add the sugar and 3 Tablespoons of milk. Beat on low about 1 minute until well incorporated. Add vanilla and beat on medium until frosting is light and fluffy. If too stiff, add remaining milk.
