More than one million copies of the The Moosewood Restaurant Cookbooks have been sold in the 40-year history of the restaurant. They are definitely considered beloved classics in American Cookbook history. The recipes are dependable, simple, healthful and creative. In our opinion, the Moosewood cookbook series is the pioneer and the showcase of the meatless, vegetarian genre.

Moosewood Restaurant, was actually founded in 1973, and revolutionized vegetarian cooking by making vegetarian "cool" and elevating meatless meals by introducing a variety of delicious food choices including soups, sandwiches, casseroles, entrees, salads, and desserts.

The Moosewood Collective (Molly Katzen was a longtime member) now has nineteen members who share responsibilities and participate in the various jobs necessary to run what has grown from a very small natural foods restaurant to a larger and more diversified company. Some members have worked for the restaurant since its founding in 1973.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, MOOSEWOOD RESTAURANT FAVORITES a cookbook by the Moosewood Collective contains 250 of their most requested recipes completely updated and revised to reflect the way they're cooked now. The recipes are increasingly vegan and gluten-free, benefitting from fresh herbs, new varieties of vegetables, and the wholesome addition of newly rediscovered grains. Fish recipes are also included.

Moosewood Restaurant Favorites offers the reader a collection and sampling of some of the Moosewood's best recipes, including customer and collective favorites. Even non-vegetarians will want to add this book to their collections.
